On 7 June 1961, ITN's Tom Barry reported from East Berlin, capturing the tension and uncertainty gripping a city divided by ideology. Speaking to both East and West Berliners, Barry documented how daily life was shaped by travel restrictions, political pressure and the widening gulf between the two halves of Berlin. Filmed just two months before the Berlin Wall was built, Barry's report offers a rare snapshot of a population living on the brink of historic change, and stands as an important record of Berlin in the final weeks before the wall was erected.
