Three months after East Canton launched its traffic camera enforcement program, new data reveals the cameras issued 5,525 citations in just 10 days, potentially generating nearly $875,000 for the village.

Records covering July 17 through July 27 show every citation in that period carried a $175 fine.

Trevor Elkins, president of Targeting and Solutions Limited, the company managing the cameras, said the revenue will go toward improving safety throughout the village. The police chief said the cameras were installed after years of speeding complaints.
