The #pancreas forms from an initial epithelial bud of cells on an embryo. These cells multiply over time to form a larger mass within which lumens begin to form, and then coalesce to form pancreatic ducts. Cells differentiate to form both Islets of Langerhans and pancreatic acinar cells. The pancreas has its adult shape by birth, responsible for producing exocrine enzymes that are released in the ducts to aid digestion.
