Flight at 6am around the Isla Gladstone conservatory. Just an orbiting flight around the building. Height was about 80m ⬆️, wind; very light and conditions were perfect. I made sure my drone stayed away from the building itself, hence the circling flight rather than a flyover. It’s a stunning building and deserves to be appreciated from a distance.
A bit of history:
• Built in 1870, it was designed by Edward Kemp whose vision of its use was to create a usable park space in North Liverpool. It’s original use was to house tropical and exotic plants. Stanley Park, where it’s situated was originally on the edge of the countryside but as the city expanded, the building and park were soon consumed by the surrounding housing development.
The building sadly fell into a poor state of disrepair after less than a century from being built. Attempts were made from the 50’s to the 80’s to convert the space into something usable but nothing came to fruition.
Then in 2007 the park underwent an extensive £14m transformation and many of the original features and landscape components were improved and restored. A new children’s play area was installed, the bandstand was refurbished and the main conservatory, which now includes a café restaurant, provide a new facility for the regenerated park. The conservatory is also used as a venue for Wedding events and makes this a fantastic venue for such occasions.
