I've always been a bit disappointed with the 'unrealistic' Co-Driver voices in EA WRC. (But they're real co-drivers voice!) Recently I learned how to mod Unreal games, and started making a new Co-Driver mod for EA WRC, using my old RBR Co-Driver mods.

The game is unreasonably overloaded with note voices.
For example, there are files with 5 notes: 6 Right / 6 Right overcrest / 6 Right overjump / 6 Right sharp / 6 Right short,
and into/and/early/late/sudden notes are attached to those voice files.
into 6R / into 6R oc ........
into early 6R .........
into late 6R .........
into sudden 6R ........
and 6R / and 6R oc ........
and early 6R / and early 6R oc ..........
This is how the file types increase tremendously, so I spent about 40 hours for 'assembled' about 4000 voice files. This was a whole other level of difficulty than making a Co-Driver mod for RBR.
Anyway first, I will reveal the mod of my favorite Co-Driver, Paul Nagle.
*INFORMATION*
There are many 'Caution' note voices in this game (Care, Brake, Slowin, Caution, Double Caution, Triple Caution) and some of them are left as dummy files(stop, minus, plus, minusminus, plusplus, etc.. why don't use it?.)
At first test, I match Paul Nagle's notes exactly to EA WRC.
Care = Care
Brake = Stop Braking
Slowin = Big Slowin
Caution = Stop (It didn't work for my ears and flatout! CRASH!π)
Double Caution = Big Stop
Triple Caution = Must Stop
However, EA WRC uses Slowin notes overwhelmingly, and I got sick of hearing only Big! Slowin, Big! Slowin, Big! Slowin, Big! Slowin... hundreds of times.
So.. final decisions are as follows:
Care = Care
Brake = Don't Push
Caution = Care Line
Slowin, Double Caution = Stop Braking, Big Slowin, Big Stop, Must Stop (Random play)
Triple Caution = Danger Slowin
'CAUTION' note seems to be more about being careful with the 'racing line', not the 'slow and dangerous' for almost corners. So I replaced the CAUTION notes with Paul Nagle's 'Care Line' notes.
*About the 'Left/Right tightens~ note*
This is replacing some of the 'Late' notes.
I did not replace those (into late 2 right / and late 2 right ........... ) 'and' 'into' series voices, because they are used in consecutive corners, and I only applied them to the 88 voices files that start with 'LATE'. This is used very accurately in almost corners except some corners, and you can see it in this video.
*I applied the OK (Be Brave) note in a similar way, and it also works well in almost corners.
*When a tire punctures, Paul cries out for Jesus. In fact, it was replaced due to a lack of voice sources, but I think it is very appropriate. π
*These researches and attempts are bring out the variety of Kris Meeke/Paul Nagle's pacenote style, and it will provide great immersion.*
I am also considering making other Co-Driver mods.
First up is Robert Reid (Richard Burns). I really like Robert Reid's co-driving, and he has a relatively simple note system (by Richard) compared to the current generation drivers, so I think it will not be as much work as Paul Nagle Mod.
Next up is Paul Coleman, Co-Driver of DiRT Rally 1. There are a lot of unused dummy voices in DiRT Rally, and I think a lot of them could be adapted to EA WRC. If you have DR1 nostalgia, including me, it would be even more satisfying.
