This takes about an hour as Yangshuo train station is the other side of Xingping.At the train station we wait for our train that will take us to Guilin. Matthew is still pretty ill from the food poisoning he picked up the day before.Our train from Yangshuo to Guilin takes around 30 minutes and then we wait for our direct train that will take us all the way from Guilin to Hong Kong.We stock up on supplies at the train station, drinks, snacks, etc. and get on our train.Today we would be travelling in second class on the G319 for the 3 hour plus journey from Guilin to Hong Kong. Along the way we would be travelling past some beautiful scenery and making stops at a number of stations including Guangzhou and Shenzen before finally arriving in Hong Kong at Kowloon West Train Station.At Hong Kong we had to go through immigration before catching a taxi to our hotel.Tonight we were staying at The Salisbury - YMCA Hong Kong, the hotel is in a perfect location in Tsim Sha Tsui next to the Peninsula with perfect views over Victoria harbour and the Hong Kong Skyline. YANGSHUO in CHINA is so BEAUTIFUL but THINGS GO VERY WRONG! travelshorts 2024-10-12 | Today we explore the beautiful town of Yangshuo, near Guilin in China, the highlight was the bamboo rafting down the river but then everything changed that would affect our holiday for the next few days.π Free China Guide Book PDF with all our tips, tricks, best hotels, places to visit and more. bit.ly/4d8D23tWe start our day by having breakfast at our Hotel, the Yangshuo Mountain Retreat overlooking the Yulong River. This is such a fabulous location for a hotel, it is very peaceful and the scenery is amazing.After breakfast we walk up river to the bamboo raft station where we get on a couple of bamboo rafts and sail down the Yulong River for a few KM's. We go over a number of little waterfalls as we head down the river. It is really relaxing and I would recommend it to anyone who is in Yangshuo.After we finished sailing down the river we walked back to our hotel where we relaxed on the balcony of our room watching the bamboo rafts coming down the river before having lunch outside in the hotel gardens.After relaxing for a couple more hours Matthew became really ill with food poisoning, which must have been from the lunch.In the evening we had planned to see Impressions Sanjie Liu, with more than 600 performers, in the worlds biggest natural auditorium that uses the Li River waters as its stage and the karst mountains as its backdrop. It was not cheap but was a great experience and we wanted to do it at least once on our 23 day Epic China Trip.We started the day at our hotel, the Crowne Plaza Chengdu City Centre before getting a taxi to Chengdu East Train Station. At the train station we were able to go through the business class entrance and bypass the main security to get into the business class lounge.At the business class lounge we had complementary drinks and snacks and then when it was time to board our train we were led there by one of the stewardesses. It is carved out of a cliff face that lies at the confluence of the Min River and Dadu River in the southern part of Sichuan Province in China, near the city of Leshan, China.We spend all morning at the Leshan Buddha and even climbed down to the steps to stand at the feet of the buddha, after a very long wait. We then go to the Oriental Buddha Capital.Open to public in 1994, Oriental Buddha Capital is only 1km from Leshan Giant Buddha. Covering an area of over 20,000 m2, Oriental Buddha Capital is a stone carving theme park, which combines religious art, sculpture art and garden art together. The park has modeled over 3000 Buddha statues with different materials, including rock, bronze, clay and jade. The whole park represents the art style of Chinese Buddhism and Southeast Asia Buddhism. The park has a 170-meter-long sleeping Buddha statue, which is the largest and longest sleeping Buddha statue in the world. China southern Airlines Flight CZ5776. The BEST DAY at SHANGHAI DISNEYLAND | We Rode TRON 4 TIMES! travelshorts 2024-08-31 | Join us for a full day at the Shanghai Disneyland Theme Park in China.π Free China Guide Book PDF with all our tips, tricks, best hotels, places to visit and more. bit.ly/4d8D23tWe started early this morning by leaving the Toy Story Hotel and catching their courtesy shuttle bus to Shanghai Disneyland. As we were a resort guest we could enter the theme park an hour before everyone else and we used that time to ride TRON 3 times in a row without any line (we would comeback later to ride it one more time).We then went to Toy Story Land to ride Slinky Dog and Fantasyland to ride the Winnie the Pooh rides.We spent a lot of time exploring the new Zootopia Land area and got some candy floss to eat.After Zootopia we watched Fandango, a Jack Sparrow themed Pirate Stunt Show. Had some lunch and then went over to Marvel Universe.In Marvel Universe we had a meet and Greet with Doctor Strange and Spiderman. The Xi'an Bell Tower, is a traditional building, that marks the geographical centre of the ancient capital. From this important landmark extend East, South, West and North Streets, connecting the tower to the East, South, West and North Gates of the City Wall of the Ming Dynasty.The wooden tower, which is the largest and best-preserved of its kind in China, is 36 meters (118 feet) high. It stands on a brick base 35.5 meters (116.4 feet) long and 8.6 meters (28.2 feet) high on each side. We then walk over to the Xi'an Drum Tower another very impressive building in the centre of Xi'an. It was initially built in 1380 during the reign of Emperor Hongwu of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and was renovated twice in 1699 and 1740 in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It is a two-storied post and panel structure, 34 meters (about 112 feet) high and 52.6 meters (about 172 feet) long from east to west as well as 38 meters (about 124 feet) wide from north to south.We go for lunch in a local shopping mall and have a buffet, not very traditional I know but it keeps us all happy.Then we catch the subway to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda (also called Big Wild Goose Pagoda) is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. The Terracotta Army is one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the last century.π Free China Guide Book PDF with all our tips, tricks, best hotels, places to visit and more. bit.ly/4d8D23tWe start the day very early, have breakfast at our hotel the Holiday Inn Express Xian Bell Tower then get a taxi (DiDi) from outside to take us to the Terracotta Warriors.It takes a little over an hour to get from Xian to the Terracotta Warriors by taxi and once we arrive we spare no time entering the attraction.To save a little time we hop on a golf cart for a small fee for a journey that will take us to the main gate, this way we can beat the initial traffic to Pit 1.Pit 1 is the main location of the Terracotta Warriors and it is where they were first discovered back in 1974, there are 1000's of Terracotta Warriors housed in this building that is the size of an aircraft hanger.We then continued to walk around Emperor Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum Site by visiting Pit 3 next,. Pit 3 is thought to be the command centre and even contains some horses.Finally we visit Pit 2, this pit contains a lot of archers and the majority of it is still being excavated.After we finished in the pits we got an ice cream and then headed by bus to the mausuleum section. here we got another golf cart to transport us around and even passed the Emperor's Tomb beneath a large earth mound shaped like a pyramid. The Temple of Heaven complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest and it was a great place to spend an hour looking around early in the morning.We then catch the Beijing Subway back to our hotel the Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel pack our things, check out and then get the Subway again the Beijing West Train Station.At the Beijing West Train Station we wait for our G657 Bullet Train that will take us all the way to Xian. If you need train tickets for China trains you can get them from Trip.com (link can be found below).Today we are going to be travelling in second class from Beijing to Xian and the journey time is just over 5 hours. Over the course of our trip to China we will be experiencing all different classes of train travel including second class, first class, business class, VIP class and even a sleeper train.We really enjoyed our time onboard this train, we all sat next to each other in a row of three seats.Along the way we passed through some amazing scenery on our journey to Xian. We spend most of the time either looking out of the window and eating all the snacks we got the night before.Once we arrived at Xian we got a taxi from Xian Train station to our hotel, the Holiday Inn Express Xian Bell Tower. THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA is NOT what we expected (BEST Day Trip from Beijing) travelshorts 2024-07-06 | We spend today visiting the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China, a great day trip from Beijing.π Free China Guide Book PDF with all our tips, tricks, best hotels, places to visit and more. bit.ly/4d8D23tAfter getting up really early and having breakfast at the Club Lounge at our hotel, the Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel we catch the subway to Dongzhimen Subway Station where we meet our guide from Mubus who will take us to the Great Wall of China.Mubus is a cost effective way of visiting the Great Wall, they take care of the transport and also offer tickets at cost price.It took about an hour and a half to arrive at the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China and then we caught the cable car to the top.Once on the Great Wall of China we walked all the way to watch tower number 20 before coming back down. We have such a great time visiting the Forbidden City, Jingshan Park and eating Peking Duck.π Free China Guide Book PDF with all our tips, tricks, best hotels, places to visit and more. bit.ly/4d8D23tWe start the day by checking out of our hotel at Universal Studios, The Universal Grand Hotel and catching the subway from the Universal Station all the way to Wangfujing in Downtown Beijing.In Beijing we check into our hotel the Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel and we have a club room that overlooks the Forbidden City.We then go to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City (Palace Museum) and spend a few hours here walking around and enjoying the history and architecture the Forbidden City offers.After leaving the Forbidden City we walk across the road to Jingshan Park where we climb to the top of the hill and have a great view of the Forbidden City below us.We then get a taxi to Qianmen Street, a pedestrian street at the southern end of Tiananmen Square where we had dinner at Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant.Quanjude is a traditional Peking Duck restaurant as was founded in 1864. Qianmen Branch is the original restaurant of Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant with a history of ver 150 years. UNIVERSAL STUDIOS BEIJING - Full day at this Amazing Theme Park in China travelshorts 2024-06-23 | Join us as we spend the whole day at Universal Studios Beijing and go on every ride and see every show this theme park has to offer.π Free China Guide Book PDF with all our tips, tricks, best hotels, places to visit and more. bit.ly/4d8D23tWe start the day at our hotel, the Universal Grand Hotel and as we are residents we are able to enter the park an hour before regular park admission.We first head over to Hogsmead the Harry Potter themed land and go on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey coaster and then Harry Potter and the Flight of the HippoGriff coaster. We then visit Ollivanders the wand shop before leaving and going to Jurassic World.At Jurassic world we go on Jurassic Flyers a Mack Rides Coaster which was really enjoyable. Then we went on probably my favourite dark ride of all time Jurassic World Adventure, it is a great mix of practical effects and screen, a full size dinosaur even chases you!We get lunch back in Hogsmead at the Three Broomsticks, the Great Feast contained ribs, chicken, wedges, vegetables and corn on the cob, all washed down with a Butter Beer.After lunch we continued to tour the park visiting the largest Minions Land in the world and going on all the rides including Minion Mayhem before seeing Sing on Tour stage show.Next up was Kung Fu Panda land and we go on all three rides here, this is such a great themed area and it is all indoors.Our next show for the day was Waterworld Stunt Show, this is the same stunt show as Universal Studios Hollywood but in Chinese.Then we went to the Transfomers area to ride Transformers Battle for the All Spark and Bumblebee Boogie. The line here was too big so I ended up at another Roast Goose Restaurant.Then I visited the Ark, a Transformers themed restaurant is the Causeway Bay Area of Hong Kong.I took a Ding Ding (Tram) all the way to Tai Kwun Jail. Established by the British after 1841 as the colony's main police station, magistracy, and prison, the site is one of Hong Kong's most important remaining historic monuments.
