Techland goes into more detail on Aiden’s past in this video from the PC Gaming show at E3.

Looks like he and his sister, Mia, along with other children, were being experimented on at a top secret facility. These experiments more than likely mutated their DNA and is why Aiden seems to do super human parkour in the trailers!
