A lost demo cassette 4-track EP by flautist Dwayne D. Kerr. I figured to make this tape public, since Kerr's entire 3-album discography, his work with Erykah Badu (4 tours and 2 albums as credited session musician), and other miscellaneous work are all easily accessible, except for this one tape. It's not on Discogs, it's not on eBay, and it's obviously not here on YouTube until now. There's no proper label code, making it hard to access; I can only assume this tape was self-manufactured and given away at local gigs. It predates all publicly known information about Kerr, as it was recorded all the way back in 1994, making this never-before-heard tape 30 years old.
This was discovered from a collection of tapes passed down to my local record store owner in PA, who sold this tape in particular for only 3 bucks. Of course, I managed to snag a copy, and I was surprised with the lack of information surrounding this tape, despite everything else credited to Kerr and his endeavors. If Kerr or his legal team requests the takedown of this tape, I'd be happy to oblige.
NOTES:
Tracks 1 and 3 have a very distracting tape noise that permeates in the left ear channel. Other than that, all tracks play good.
Tracks 2 and 4 have vocals. All background vocalists are unidentified. Track 4 features a short rap verse by Gordon Mack III of Nu Civilization, another collaborator of Kerr.
Tracks 3 and 4 have unidentified samples, which probably explains the rarity of this tape since they were possibly never cleared.
All tracks have edited simulated fade-outs as to avoid background tape noise.
The album cover is a recreation of the actual tape cover and tracklist info. It has been modified to look as closely to the original photos as possible.
All tracks written and performed by Dwayne Kerr.
Tracks 1 and 3 are co-written and produced by Al MacDowell.
Track 2 is produced by Tim James.
Track 4 is produced by Gordon Mack III and is co-written by Gary Binford, Kerr's manager.
