In today’s video, I talk about why I’ve been buying more DVDs again, even while owning a large 4K Blu-Ray collection. The big appeal for me is optionality. DVD often gives collectors different ways to experience movies, whether that means widescreen versions, full frame 4:3 versions, open matte presentations, older transfers, or releases that have been forgotten in the move to Blu-Ray and 4K.

I also talk about the cost side of collecting, why DVD can still be good enough in certain cases, and why some fullscreen releases are still worth owning when they offer more picture at the top and bottom, even if widescreen gives you more on the sides. For collectors, having those options can be part of the fun.
