Join us on a tour of some incredible Minecraft builds inspired by historic Dutch and Belgian architecture! 🏰✨
đźš‹ Matti - St. Paulus Church + Station
Explore the stunning St. Paulus (St. Paul's) Church, located at the south end of the long market square. Based on the Antwerp church of the same name, this late Gothic masterpiece boasts a Baroque interior. The real-life version houses many paintings by P.P. Rubens, while the column in front of the Minecraft build is modeled after a similar monument in Brussels.
🏛 Matti - Ter Kameren Abbey / Abbaye de la Cambre
Located east of Leuven, this build is inspired by the historic Abbey in Brussels, founded by the Duke of Brabant in the 13th century. While most of the original complex has been lost through history, the remaining 14th-century church stands strong. This Minecraft recreation is still a work in progress, but the general layout of buildings, gardens, and parks is already taking shape—with a beautifully detailed church interior!
⛪ Duncan - Hoogedam Updates
Exciting developments in Hoogedam! Next to the Palace of the Dam, the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) now stands—a historical structure originally built in Amsterdam to accommodate the growing city in the late 14th century. Notably angled at 45 degrees, this is the fifth dedicated building in Hoogedam honoring the legendary Holy Frog.
Meanwhile, across the canal from the Waag, construction has begun on the University of Hoogedam. Several large interconnected buildings will form a sprawling campus, including the Allard Pierson Museum, specializing in archaeological findings. These expansions mark the early efforts to connect the city center with the Zoo and Maritime District in the east.
