This breathtaking and jaw-dropping is one of the most fantastic train rides I've been on!
When I rode this in August, 2023, they ran two trains from Durango to Silverton about 20 minutes apart. The first train had one locomotive, 8 passenger cars, 1 snack car, and one box car. The second train has 2 locomotives, 13 passenger cars and, 1 snack car. Both trains back out of the station empty and turn around using a nearby wye and come back to the Silverton station ready to take everyone back down to Durango. The second locomotion from the longer train runs down the hill solo because its pulling power is no longer needed.

Seeing the "station" in Silverton was so unique because there is no platform or building. It is just a couple narrow gauge tracks in the middle of a dirt road, which end with no buffer stop!

Part two coming soon...
