Saturday, May 2, 1992 marked the first time since the D&RGW days that locomotive 482 pulled a train under its own power. Since then, 482 has become the face of the railroad being on their logo and has seen lots of use in 28 years.
In 1991, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad traded their K-37 #497 for the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad's 482 which sat in Chama rusting away for years. In just a mere 7 months from arriving in Durango, the locomotive was once again under steam.
482 has been my personal favorite Durango & Silverton locomotive since I found out about the railroad in the mid-late 2000s at just a few years old, and it was the first K-36 and D&RGW locomotive I ever saw and rode in person. It holds an extremely special place in my heart.
With that being said, enjoy a compilation I made with 2019 footage of Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad 482.
