Q: What is the make/model of this heater?
A: It's a Webasto Air Top 2000 Gas/Petrol Heater. There's also a diesel version (links are below). Espar D2 is another popular diesel heater to look at.
Q: What if I have a travel trailer (no fuel tank)?
A: It’s quite common to install a small plastic or metal fuel tank to fuel the heater. You can then choose whether to buy a diesel or gasoline heater. This is also the solution if you don’t have an auxiliary fuel line on your motorhome or van fuel tank.
Q: How is this better than a propane heater?
A: (1) Provides dry heat. Propane heaters add a lot of moisture. (2) Much more efficient using very little power and fuel. One gallon of gas can heat the rig for 24 hours. (3) Webasto heater regulates the heat much better providing an even more comfortable environment.
Q: How much do they cost?
A: Webasto heater kits run between $700 - $1200. Check the links below for current pricing.
Q: Why not install a cheaper knock-off diesel/gas heater?
A: Here’s why I chose a Webasto over the other options. I figure if I was going to put a gas burning combustion heater inside my RV, then I prefer to pay more and go with the established reputable market leader. I’ll sleep better. Webasto has been perfecting engine independent vehicle heaters for 80 years. Many have chosen the inexpensive units made in China with good results too. Do what's right for you.
