Driving in Norway in winter can be challenging. Snow, ice, mountain roads and rapidly changing weather require preparation, experience and the right equipment.

🚗Always check road and traffic conditions and the weather forecast before you drive
🚗Adapt your speed to the road and weather conditions at all times
🚗Braking takes much longer on icy and slippery roads
🚗Never stop in the road to take photos or enjoy the view. Use designated safe stopping areas only
🚗Using a mobile phone while driving can result in a fine of nearly €1,000
🚗Pull over and let local traffic pass if you’re driving slowly
🚗Keep to the right side of the road. Don’t drive in the middle
🚗Headlights must always be on, even during daytime
🚗Follow Norwegian traffic rules and learn the road signs
🚗Never drink and drive
