Tonight we’re following up on the software that automatically adds people to the voter rolls when they get a driver’s license — often without ever asking if they are a U.S. citizen.
We previously covered this same system as a major privacy risk: voter rolls are public records, while federal law strictly protects driver’s license information. Now we’re looking at the other side of the problem — how this automatic process has registered thousands of non-citizens in places like New Jersey (recently blamed on a “software error”).
