"I was brought onto this project due to a song I've made called "This Sadness Permiates", which is a melancholic City Pop-inspired instrumental. The song had the right sound & tone for this project, so, I was hired. During the conception of this track, I was teetering on doing what I've done before or doing something that matches the style of the "Grasslands" theme, I decided to go for the latter first. The original demo was a latin-inspired song with retro-esque Rompler instrumentation, however, what I've made didn't fit with the rest of the project. I started over and began to closely lean towards a more 80s electronic production style, as well as a "City Pop" flavor to its songwriting. The specific tones in mind were "melancholy", "uplifting, and "dreamy". I limited myself to using only Rompler synths for its overall instrumentation; emphasis on synthesized sounds as heard from the percussion to the secondary leads, and a KORG M1 bell patch as its main lead instrument to push the "dreamy" feel. Artists like Yoko Nagayama and Vina Pandiwunata are inspirations for how the song is shaped, particularly I was interested in capturing the melancholy of Vina Pandiwunata's "WOW" song. Aside from those artists, I was also inspired by the output of Gale Sosa as there are a few instances in the song where I referenced the main musical motif of the game. The track is structured as a song with an increasing sense of intensity and pace, it has a gradual buildup. I wanted the listener to digest it slowly and take in the bittersweet emotions being expressed before being upheld with an uplifting chorus. There were a few revisions here and there during the rest of the song's development but the final song was ultimately well-received by the team."
