I improvised this monologue to try and capture a character trying to free his son from the grasp of a stultified, traditional family of privilege, and a life of quiet desperation.
We all have to go our own way, even if it seems inappropriate to other family members who are dealing with their own fears of mortality, and being thought of as unconventional.
