A wild shootout occurred over the weekend in broad daylight on the Northwest Side, and it was captured on dashcam video.

The dashboard camera that captured the shootout was in a car that was parked in the 4400 block of West Gunnison in Albany Park.

It's usually a quiet street, but on Saturday it exploded in violence.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. No one was hurt, but one of the bullets just missed a 9-year-old boy. Residents who witnessed the shooting firsthand were in shock.

"We just saw a couple of guys yelling at each other," a man said.

All of the people FOX 32 talked to asked that we not show their faces, because they're fearful of gang retaliation.

FOX 32: Describe how they were shooting at each other.

"Amateurs. Just shooting, just random,” the man said. "Stupid. Just insane. People don't care about other people's life."

Witnesses said the argument between two groups of young men started at the 7-11 around the corner, and then moved into the neighborhood.

In the video, you can see a man in a grey T-shirt and baseball cap pull out a gun, with a friend trailing in a car to act as a shield.

After firing five quick shots, they head down the street, stop, and fire five more times at a target never seen on camera before getting in the car and speeding away.

The man they were shooting at also squeezed off a couple rounds.

FOX 32 spoke to a woman who lives on the block who was hosting a birthday party when it happened.

"Make me angry? It scares the hell out of me,” a woman said. "My brother was here and my mother was here. Me and my husband, I don't feel like picking up their brains off the floor for a damn bullet. Because young kids, stupid gangbangers, whatever they were."

But the closest call came at a house at the end of the block. A bullet went right through the front window, then through the living room, punched a hole in the opposite wall right, and continued into the bedroom on the other side of the wall - where a 9-year-old boy was lying watching a video game. The bullet passed right over his head.

It's the second shootout on this block in the past six months, and neighbors have had enough.

"What can we do? I mean regular people like my neighbors, what can we do to protect ourselves? I mean the police is not gonna be here 24/7. They cannot be in every corner, in every house," a man said.

Chicago Police said they are analyzing the video, which they believe contains clues to the shooters' identities. At this point, though, no one has been arrested.
