During the 2026 Belmot Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, I had the pleasure of attending the Patriot jet dragster show, driven by Marianne Wiso. Mary, whom I must thank for her kindness, is a renowned German drag racer, German national champion, and a leading figure in European drag racing. She competes for the Gerd Habermann Racing team, considered one of the largest and most important drag racing teams in Europe. Throughout her career, she has achieved significant sporting successes, including the 2023 HARA Super Gas and 2024 DMV Drag Racing Super Gas championships, driving a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro with approximately 1,000 hp. She also received official awards and gold medals for sporting merit in 2025 in recognition of her international successes. Here at the Nürburgring, on the main straight, she showed off a jet dragster powered by a Westinghouse J46 WE8 jet engine, which can run on kerosene or a mixture of diesel and gasoline. It develops about 8,600 pounds of thrust, equivalent to about 10,500 hp, and can cover the quarter mile in about 7 seconds. Of course, we weren't at the Hockenheimring here, where the famous European NitrOlympX race takes place every year, and it's a track specifically designed for racing and exhibitions. However, I appreciated that Mery gave us a taste of the power and sound these vehicles can unleash. I have to thank photographer Mirko Motsch for providing me with the onboard video with the view from the roll cage, and friends and YouTubers @19Bozzy92 & @sportcrash71 with whom I collaborated to realize this video. Durante l'edizione 2026 del Belmot Oldtimer Grand Prix, sul circuito del Nürburgring, ho avuto il piacere di assistere allo show del jet dragster Patriot, guidato da Marianne Wiso. Mary, che devo ringraziare per la gentilezza nei miei confronti, è una celebre pilota automobilistica tedesca di dragster, campionessa nazionale tedesca e figura di spicco nel panorama del drag racing europeo. Gareggia per il team di Gerd Habermann Racing, considerato tra i team di dragster più grandi e importanti d'Europa. Nel corso della sua carriera ha collezionato importanti successi sportivi, come campionessa HARA Super Gas nel 2023, campionessa DMV Drag Racing Super Gas nel 2024, a bordo di una Chevrolet Camaro del 1969 da circa 1000 CV, oltre a riconoscimenti ufficiali e medaglie d'oro al merito sportivo ricevuti nel 2025 per i suoi successi internazionali. Qui al Nürburgring, sul rettilineo principale, si è esibita con un jet dragster mosso da un motore a reazione Westinghouse J46 WE8, che può funzionare a cherosene oppure a una miscela di gasolio e benzina. Sviluppa circa 8600 libbre di spinta, pari a circa 10.500 cv, e potrebbe coprire il quarto di miglio in circa 7 secondi. Naturalmente qui non eravamo sul circuito di Hockenheim, dove ogni anno si svolge la famosa gara europea NitrOlympX, ed è una pista appositamente progettata per gare ed esibizioni. Ho però apprezzato che Mery ci abbia dato un assaggio della potenza e del suono che questi veicoli possono sprigionare. Devo ringraziare il fotografo Mirko Motsch per avermi fornito il video onboard con la visuale dal roll-bar e gli amici e YouTuber @19Bozzy92 & @sportcrash71 con cui ho collaborato alla realizzazione del video.
