Phase 1 of the Final Boss fight is a gimmick. You need all 4 characters to pray to the Godbird Sceptre in the same turn to get a Sage to appear. You need to do this 7 times in total. Rhapthorne will be attacking you constantly as you do this and should be kill someone before their turn to pray, the prayer will not work. So whenever you fall low on HP, devote the next turn solely to healing and defending. Then begin praying to the Sceptre again, healing inbetween when you need until all 7 Sages appear.
