I was inspired to do this after browsing the website of Jerry Vanderstelt yesterday afternoon. If you've never been there, I recommend you go now.

The man is a master of sci-fi fantasy art... Very enjoyable.
I was looking through his fantasy gallery noticing how he could take some of the most relaxed poses and make such dramatic masterpieces out of them... So I dug some older photos I took of my wife that I had taken outside, and oneof them particularly struck me. The sun was shining on her face, and the warmth of her skin and blonde hair was reflecting on the tree bark she was standing by... This immediately inspired me to do a similar set-up with a young woman standing up against a fantasy creature.
The actual time it took me to do this painting was about 4 hours. It's digitally drawn freehand in Photoshop CS, with a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet.
Screen capture software is Snaps Pro X on a Mac. TIme-lapsed in Adobe After Effects, and mixed down with MPEG STREAMCLIP.
