It's been a year since I first read the manga and imagined a melody for Moro. I really wanted to take my time with this theme, as this character deserves to treated with as much care as possible. There's a lot I can say about my attempt to create his music. To focus on a couple things, I really wanted to put an emphasis on his magic. The first idea that came up in my head was the arpegiattor I used in Scott Morgans Pikkon theme; even though he wasn't a magical character there was still something very mystical about the way his theme made him feel. I thought this was an excellent way to bring about that kind of sorcery that we experience with Moro. Secondly, this demonic being is said to be 10,000,000 years old; I created an ancient choir using my own voice and a sample library of Bulgarian choir singers to emit a dark, otherworldly chant. Thirdly, it was very important that the main horn melody felt like it was straight out of the Kikuchi score, but modern feeling. I feel like some of this was achieved through Yamamoto's score for DBZ Kai, but that was before we were blessed by Sumitomo's score for DB Super: Broly, and Satō's more electronic leaning score for DB Super: Super Hero. I was replying to a comment the other day about how I very much aim to mix all my favorite DB composers styles in my unofficial themes. Through all of the composers styles, I try to triangulate the sound of modern Dragon Ball, with my own stylistic addition too. It's truly wonderful because there's so much material to draw from! In my opinion, I even think that Sumitomo unconsciously or consciously made some tracks in his score for DB Super that sounded like it could have come from the Faulconer Productions score.
