Dr Visa Kurki (Associate Professor of Jurisprudence, University of Helsinki, Finland) delivered 'Why Animals Already Hold Legal Rights', the first keynote address at our Centre's European Animal Rights Law Conference 2025.
Dr Visa Kurki is Associate Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Helsinki and Director of the Helsinki Animal Law Centre. He has published widely in animal law, including on legal personhood, rights, and animal dignity. He currently leads the ERC Starting Grant project Agency in Law.
