Whoever is that person, I do not know, but here it is, a lecture on the history of cybernetics and the development of a "cyber-culture" from psy-ops to cyber-cafes, from psychedelics to cyberwarfare. It also includes a snippet of Genelec & Memphis Reigns's Elephantightus that begins with a reference to cybernetics. It also includes some fun interaction when the audience, consisting mostly of several students from China, is collectively surprised to find out that the lecturer (a) knows about the platform Xiaohongshu, and (b) is aware that students are rating Western courses on it :)
This was a guest lecture delivered at the University of Edinburgh's course Internet, Society and Economy on the 23rd of January 2024.
