I feel truly fortunate and blessed to have met the towering personality in the world of Karnatik Classical Music, MRIDANGAM PITHAMAHA & KONNAKKOL LEGEND, Dr. T.K.Murthy Sir, at his residence in Chennai, this week. And tears welling up in my eyes from sheer joy, gratitude & respect ππ»
At the incredible age of 100, with a career spanning over 8 decades, he is the proud torch-bearer of the illustrious βThanjavur Bani of Mridangamβ, admired by innumerous devoted disciples & ardent followers, for his exceptional artistry. He is the recipient of several prestigious honours, including "Padma Shri," "Sangita Kalanidhiβ, "Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship" and Prasar Bharati "National Artist" Award. Despite his impressive accomplishments, he still exudes child-like humility and simplicity. And his conversations revolve solely around rhythm, his association with his Guru & yesteryear co-artists, reflecting his unwavering devotion and passion to the art form.
