Dr. Sarah Hallberg received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2002 and practiced as a primary care physician for eight years before becoming the medical director and founder of the Indiana University-Arnett Health Medical Weight Loss Program. She was board-certified by both the American Board of Obesity Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Hallberg also had a Master’s and Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Illinois State University and had worked as a fitness trainer and instructor.

Dr. Hallberg was formerly the Medical Director at Virta Health. She also created the Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program at Indiana University Health Arnett and served as its Medical Director. Dr. Hallberg was an expert in diabetes care and is board certified in Internal Medicine, Obesity Medicine, and Clinical Lipidology and also a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist from the ACSM. Sarah died of lung cancer on March 28, 2022.
