Dr Laurie Marker - 'Saving the Endangered Cheetah"
Saving the endangered Cheetahs has been the life's work of Dr. Laurie Marker. With increasing human population and decreasing open space in Namibia, one of little more than a handful of spaces large enough to accommodate the wide ranging hunting style of Cheetahs, the Cheetah's survival in the wild has become a gathering concern.
Dr. Marker and her team in Namibia work with local farmers to educate them about the advantages of saving the Cheetah as a predator of wild game. Using an Anatolian Shepherd guard dog as an unsuspecting companion to wild Cheetahs, the farmers protect their livestock by protecting the Cheetahs.

In 2010 Dr. Marker received the prestigious Lowell Thomas award from the Explorers Club.
