Václav Marhoul is a Czech film director/screenwriter/actor who took on the mammoth task of adapting Jerzy Kosinski's maybe-autobiographical novel, The Painted Bird. The result is a remarkable multilingual journey through WWII as seen by an adolescent boy. Marhoul spoke to David Poland about the film and his work.
