sooo the assignment was to make a swap representing yourself! so here goes ig:
i picked this song because it's been one of my favs for a long time, and i relate heavily to the overall message. it uses glue as a metaphor for attachment to discuss the balance between attachment and detachment. i am someone who gets very very attached to things very very easily. and i try not to think of it as a bad thing. but it has given me a lot of grief throughout my life when it comes time for major changes or goodbyes.
i'm definitely feeling the overattachment currently as i am preparing to start college. i'm leaving my friends, my family, my city, my job, and everything i've known up to this point in my life, so this song and concept hit especially hard right now.
i sometimes try to be more detached, but it never feels authentic. i've learned over the years that it's okay to get attached and care about things a bit too much, as long as i can put those feelings aside when i need to.
