Reigning Top Fuel world champion Doug Kalitta powered to the provisional No. 1 spot on Friday at Brainerd International Raceway, opening the weekend with a strong run at the NHRA Brainerd Nationals.

Kalitta went 3.705-seconds at 340.30 mph to take the provisional No. 1 position. After winning last year’s NHRA Brainerd Nationals, Kalitta is looking for his fourth Brainerd victory.
