Friday Night Funkin' (for short Fnf) is a rhythm-based indie game developed by Ninjamuffin, PhantomArcade, KawaiSprite and Evilsk8ter, along with a team of collaborators from the huge modding community since the new Weekend 1 Update. Friday Night Funkin was released in November 2020 and is beloved for its catchy music, quirky characters, vast modding scene and admittedly cringe and/or weird parts of the community.
The story of Friday Night Funkin' follows the protagonist, Boyfriend, a blue-haired dumb guy tying to impress the Dad of his girlfriend, Girlfriend, so Boyfriend and Girlfriend can "get Freaky on a Friday Night (yeah)", if you know what I mean...
The game is structured into weeks, with each week featuring a new opponent for Boyfriend to face off against, these usually include characters from Newgrounds, just like Pico or Darnell from Pico's school, Skid and Pump from Sr Pelo's Spooky month series, or Tankman - the maskot of the platform made by Tom Fulp.
Now this is a modification called "Friday Night Funkin': Doubletime".
The concept of Friday Night Funkin' Doubletime is a small revamp of the vanilla game, coming completely from nostalgia for Fnf! The base game is now more than 3 years old, and very easy compared to 99% of all mods. Doubletime extends the lenght of ALL 20 songs of the game, makes them fancier and recharts them. The main feature however, the Doubletime difficulty! A way to play the song at 1.5x speed (without the annoying pitch change!) just if the original songs would be harder! For the people that want an extra challange, there also is another super hard mode, with way more doubles.
