The U.S. DOT requires interstate CMV drivers with less than one year of experience and a required CDL to receive training on four topics, one of which is Whistleblower Protection. DOT whistleblower protection serves to improve CMV safety by encouraging the persons best able to detect safety violations - drivers and other motor carrier employees - to report noncompliance with CMV safety regulations. This course covers the whistleblower activities that are protected, retaliatory actions by carriers that are prohibited, how to file a complaint with OSHA, and what happens after a complaint is filed.
