March 28th, 2026
*DoorDash Illegal Accounts vs. FTC and DOJ*
we break down a major development involving state lawmakers taking action against illegal accounts operating on popular platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and gig apps such as DoorDash.
Lawmakers have formally escalated the issue by submitting detailed findings to federal agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and Department of Labor (DOL). These findings outline how fraudulent accounts are being created, distributed, and sold—raising serious concerns about consumer protection, worker exploitation, and platform accountability.
We dive into:
• How these illegal accounts are created and who is behind them
• The underground marketplaces where they’re bought and sold
• What this means for the future of social media and gig economy regulation
This is a fast-moving story with potential nationwide implications. Stay informed on what could be the beginning of a major crackdown.

![California Gig App Drivers Things Are About To Change Big Time [13]
13 minutes of gig news in 13 minutes or less
August 9th, 2026
Hundreds of thousands of independent contractors for ride-hailing companies in California could be part of a union next month, putting to bed a years-long struggle for a place at the bargaining table to fight for better pay and benefits.
The California Gig Workers Union, which represents thousands of app-based drivers in the state, met a required 30% threshold of active drivers who are supportive of the effort, according to the state’s Public Employment Relations Board. Under a state law that went into effect this year, that support sets the stage for state regulators to certify the union within 30 days.
Drivers for ride-hailing giants like Uber and Lyft and other companies are classified as independent contractors and don’t qualify for overtime pay and other protections granted under federal law. However state lawmakers passed AB 1340 last year, giving drivers a path to form a union and bargain for protections.
HERE is where the problems begin.
