Do you know the game MYST?
MYST is an early-90s point'n'click game. Except for a small part, the graphics are pre-rendered still images of a bizzare world with no one except you. There is no inventory, you just click from picture to picture and solve puzzles. What's so special about this? The world is that bizarre, it will sooner or later bring up an eerie feeling, especially for the 5-year old I was at the time my dad bought that game.
But the biggest part are the sound effects. Coupled together, the audio-visuals of MYST will (or better would, because the standards have changed) bring you into a state of paranoia. This WAD can, too. It's an actual DooM WAD with gunfights and monsters to shoot, puzzles and plenty of items to pick up (as you can see). So why would I want to remove all the monsters and disable the player sprites? To show you the essential thing: BIZZARE ENVIRONMENTS and an outstanding AMBIENT SOUND.
I found this one while checking for music WADs to show. Paradox enough there is no music at all. I already wanted to trash it immediately, but I got caught by the look and wandered around. The first map is not quite impressive, so I warped to Map 02. And then Map 03. I was alone (okay, I am always alone as Single), it was dark outside. Even everyone would go "Pff, what should happen", the paranoia totally stroke me there. Totally fascinated, I visited all the maps and got more sucked into that world. Deep fog, metal clungs, deep foreseeing bass sounds, rain and thunderstorms brought a feeling to I never felt playing a WAD.
Some of the scenes brought back memories. All the windy coast-like scenes give me cold shivers and goosebumps because it remembers me to a comparable day in my vacation of 2003 on the Baltic Sea. The crackling of the fire remembers me when I played Tomb Raider II and shit my pants in the map "Opera house". And the homage to MAP 02: UNDERHALLS (at 6:15) revives one of my nightmares: The fear of cisterns. I had more than one dream waking up somewhere in a dark room or catacombs only filled with water just to have the feel there is no escape and my power to swim will run out eventually. . . . . . . . .

![[PWAD OPL] Devils Cavern
DooM is not a WASD game to me. I rather use the cursor buttons, but I need the jump button here. To make it easy accessable I used the right shift. Too bad it binds the left shift, too, and I am still used that shift is for running... Thats why you see me hopping around like a bunny in this video - And getting hit by this Barons fireball :( [PWAD OPL] Devils Cavern](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/XhukwWUosuI/mqdefault.jpg)

![[DooM PWAD OPL] OSIRIS
This map has a name, its Star Port or Portal or something. At the time I rendered the clip I had no access to it... [DooM PWAD OPL] OSIRIS](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/YLfVrpKm0LM/mqdefault.jpg)
