This was my first time ever doing commentary. The audio quality is horrible as I don’t own a mic, so some portions will be almost inaudible over the game sounds.

I learned a lot while doing this video, and in the future if I ever do commentary again it will be a lot better with more practice and a real microphone. Get ready for a lot of “alright”s and a lot of “I don’t know”s. I like to think I got a lot better at talking as the video went on, particularly during the second day of recording, at 6.25.32.
Anyways, this is my 100 subscriber special, as requested by viewers. Okuplok is a giant, grindy slaughtermap with almost 24,000 monsters. Some consider it to be the hardest doom map ever, however I think there’s only 4 or 5 super hard fights that require serious save scumming.
Quick fun fact: The only coop changes to this map are 5 extra cyberdemons, 5 extra archviles, 15 extra revenants, and a grand total of 1 extra cell pack. The extra 15 revs teleport onto the initial stairs in the middle of the platforming section at 1.10.33. The extra 5 viles teleport into the cage at 1.11.07, and The 5 cybers are on the wooden walkways at 4.35.10. The extra cell pack appears instead of the invulnerability in the fight at 5.04.36.

Serious Review:
Let me get this out of the way: I don’t care about grind at all, so that’s not going to affect my score, because this map is in fact very grindy at times. I think the grind is a good way to break up the more tense action anyways. As for the non-grindy parts, I enjoyed most of them. A lot of the fights were pretty fun to pull off, save scum or not. I think my favorite section was the part at 51.41.
Some outliers are the revenant corridor at 4.25.34 and the closet fight at 5.11.39. The revenant corridor is absolute bullshit RNG, and is pretty much the sole reason that this map is unmaxable. Even harder for me though was the stupid closet fight, which I hate. I ended up pretty much TASing that thing based on how many damn saves I used. Unlike the rev hall, though, this one gives me the feeling that I’m just not good enough for it, or I’m missing something big. Contrast this with the rev hall were no skill or strategy can save you.
Overall a massive journey, and a positive one for me. Pretty fun for those who love slaughter, unlike Holy Hell, which is pretty boring. I’m not sure if that comparison is appropriate right now, but I said it, didn’t I?
My Rating: 9/10
Difficulty: 9.5/10 (Oppressive)
