DOOM 2 Map 5 music played with the Conexant GM500 Beta soundfont.
Conexant GM500 is a commercial General MIDI set, that used to be sold on CD in Giga format.
With this GM set, the "DOOM" at the beginning and ending is very clear and pronounced. Robert Prince used some MIDI instruments in a way to create a voice saying the word doom, which is why he called the song "DOOM". "Doom...doom..." :P
Other synths on which the word "doom" is "spoken" in this music include Gravis Ultrasound Classic and of course the SC-55. Because instruments sound different on different MIDI synths, many GM sets do not sound "correct" with this MIDI, and so this song unfortunately often lacks the "DOOM" voice.
