I know this is a little late (although it's still the 20th in my timezone). But this is my entry for CCK95's editing tournament (crossover family themed). Don't judge me too harshly that it's not as spectacular as some of the other entries you may have seen for this contest, but I'm proud of it. I had the idea in my head for a while, but it took me a while, and it ended up a little rushed, but oh well. Here's the basic story:
Aladdin and Esmeralda, a poor but loving couple living in a village in India, have a daughter named Shanti and a baby son named Ranjan (baby Moses).
Three years pass and they're still a loving family. Esmeralda dances for money, which she gets arrested for. Aladdin tries to help, but there's nothing he can do as Shanti and Ranjan can only watch. Esmeralda is executed (burned at the stake), and when Shanti and Ranjan see this, Aladdin, while trying to fight off the guards, tells them to run, and that it's going to be okay.
Seven years later, Shanti (Jasmine) and Ranjan (Mowgli) are saddened as they remember their mother and how she died, when their father (Cassim) reminds them that they're still a family, and that once again, everything will be okay.
