Comedian Derrick Stroup explains how one of his jokes started with an actual stain on his shirt the night he went on stage at The Comedy Store.
But the real punchline wasn’t the stain — it was the realization that audiences judge it differently depending on who’s wearing it.

“On a skinny guy it’s an accident. On a fat guy it’s a character flaw.”

Sometimes the best jokes start as a small moment of panic five minutes before a set.
