How long does it take to learn a language? You might ask. It depends a lot on the language learning method you use as well as which language to learn?
The best way to learn a language, we discovered, is NOT to try to only learn the relevant language material and the most common words because you spend more energy learning the language quickly than you do just learning it properly.
Can you learn a language in a month? Probably, if it is a language very near to your own, you have an excellent memory and an ear for sound and are very good at recognising and distinguishing between patterns. To learn a language quickly you will also need a lot of time in the day to hear and speak the language.
I’m not advocating that you sit down with an Arabic dictionary and learn every word that you see, or that you have a goal of learning 10,000 words to become fluent, but I do think if a word comes up and you want to learn what it means, then learn what it means, it’s not a problem. Additionally, it’s a waste of mental language energy to have to ‘decide’ what language is useful and non-useful. If you just let the language come to you rather than trying to be a judge over it, you’ll have a better time learning a language fast.
A lot of these language hacking techniques say that you should use language learning strategies that are actually very inefficient if you want to learn the language properly.
