The Secret Lair Totally Normal Superdrop goes live for Magic: The Gathering on Monday, August 31. The preview opens at 8am Pacific (11am Eastern) and checkout opens at 9am Pacific (noon Eastern). This is a full MTG finance buyer's guide to every drop in the superdrop, with a real comp value on each one and the two I'm actually buying.
We cover all eight drops: the Ian Miller Artist Series with Animar, Soul of Elements and Korvold, Fae-Cursed King, the Jian Yang Journey to the West drop with Kibo and Dosan the Falling Leaf at roughly $57 in reprint value, Cosmic Chill by Robin Eisenberg with the first foil printings of Sage of Hours and Sway of the Stars, the Lofi Girl drop, and all four Marvel Secret Lairs: Earth's Mightiest Pets, Hulk Smash, the Dan Hipp X-Men and Man-Thing drop with its $40 Bristly Bill, Spine Sower reprint, and True Believers with Grave Pact. Each drop gets a value number and a clear call for Commander and EDH players: buy it, skip it, or buy it only if you love the art.
Bottom line: most of these drops cross their $30 to $40 price in comp value, so the decision comes down to which ones you will actually play or keep. I'm starting with Lofi Girl and the Dan Hipp drop, with game-time calls on the rest, live Monday morning.
