Is Donkey Kong finally back? And is he really getting a new game?

It's been a decade since DKC Tropical Freeze, but with Nintendo gearing up for their new Donkey Kong Country expansion of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios, and a "brand new" port of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD for the Nintendo Switch, it seems like Donkey Kong might finally be on Nintendo's radar again. Accordingly, a wave of new Donkey Kong merchandise and an honest-to-goodness new game could soon be revealed in a Nintendo Direct.
Then again...with game IP like Punch-Out, Earthbound, Kid Icarus, Star Fox, StarTropics, Wario Land, Golden Sun, Wave Race, ExciteBike, and more all being neglected by Nintendo, perhaps Donkey Kong's time to shine is still yet to come as well. Let's talk DK.
Camelot was once rumored to be making a sequel to Donkey Kong 64 (a 3D platformer), but that's no longer in the cards. So, what's next? Who's making the new Donkey Kong game for Switch 2, if anyone? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
