A speedrun of Fast Barrel Blast in Donkey Kong Land. This is a blimp level and the level revolves around rotating blast barrels. There are quite a few of these... anyway, this level is tough because the timing is a bit weird. Rotating blast barrels in this game are delayed enough to make it so you have to press A or B early to fire where you want it to go. In other words, when A or B is pressed, the barrel rotates 45° before firing. So, for example, if a barrel is rotating clockwise and you want it to fire yourself up-right, you have to press A (or B) when the barrel is pointing up. This timing is similar to DKC3 for SNES, and is the exact opposite of DKC for SNES, where in that game you had to fire LATER than one might think to fire.
Anyway, I blaze though this level pretty quickly, and find shortcuts with the barrels, mostly just firing them up-right instead of right, which skips a lot of barrels. I also try to jump on enemies a lot, which gives you heavy speed boosts. Awesome.
I also get the bonuses as well.
It could be done a second or two faster, I suppose...
