The next boss is Mole Miner Max. When the cars separate, wait for the one you’re riding to connect with the others. When bananas begin shaking, that means a mole is about to pop from one of the carts, but stay clear as the moles will swipe their claws when they first come out. If the wheels start flashing, that means the cart will collapse, except for the one whose wheels are not flashing. As you stand on the lone cart, the mole on the carts attached to the train will throw pickaxes. After defeating enough moles, you’ll reach the front car where Max will throw pickaxes after emerging from a pile of bananas. After defeating Max, attack Banjo Bottom to send it away so that you can finish the stage.
