When Horace Irvine commissioned this Tudor mansion on Summit Avenue in 1910, he had no way of knowing that it would one day belong to the people of Minnesota. The lumber baron and Weyerhaeuser Timber Company director hired Minneapolis architect William Channing Whitney to design a twenty-room showpiece on one of the last desirable parcels on Saint Paul's most prestigious street.
