"Smoky Mountain rain, keeps on fallin'..."
On the afternoon of July 28, 2024 I made a trip to Dollywood to ride some coasters and see 192 pulling the Dollywood Express, which was down to only four cars due to a mechanical issue with some of the coaches. My visit would be cut short when a massive storm dumped four inches of rain in an hour on the Smoky Mountains. The excessive rainfall caused flash flooding throughout the area and within the park, forcing Dollywood to close early and evacuate guests out the employee entrance (which provided me a rare view of White Pass & Yukon 71 parked behind the engine shed.) It was a little disappointing to leave the park early and soaked but I have to thanks to the many Dollywood cast members who worked through the rough weather to safely get everyone home.
