Doesn’t the Septuagint have Methuselah living through the flood?

Which Septuagint? I bet you didn't know that there are variations among the different copies of the Septuagint, did you?
Codex Alexandrinus has Methuselah dying 6 years BEFORE the flood.
Codex Vaticanus has Methuselah dying 14 years AFTER the flood.
Obviously, Vaticanus has to be wrong, because the bible says only 8 people came off the ark. Methuselah would be a 9th person. Church fathers like Eusebius and Augustine commented on the problem with Methuselah, and they noticed that some of their copies of the Septuagint have him dying before the flood, and some after. Eusebius concluded that the copies having him die before the flood are the accurate copies.
Most of the internet websites that have a free copy of the Septuagint are actually Brenton's translation. And since Lancelot Brenton translated it in the 1840's, his copyright is expired, and therefore his translation is public domain, and therefore you find it on free websites. His translation follows Vaticanus, and therefore has Methuselah living through the flood.
But if you actually BUY a newer translation of the Septuagint, like the Orthodox Study Bible, you'll find that it follows Alexandrinus, and has Methuselah dying 6 years BEFORE the flood. But since the Orthodox Study Bible is a modern translation, it's still copyrighted, and you won't find it on a free website. You have to buy it.
That's why Proverbs 23:23 says, "BUY the truth and do not sell it."
You can't take the cheap road when you want to be a serious student of the Bible. Sometimes you gotta spend a little money if you want to find out the truth.
So don’t let people tell you that the Septuagint has Methuselah outliving Noah’s flood. That’s a half-truth.
Yea, HALF of the truth is that there’s an ancient copy of the Septuagint that has Methuselah outliving Noah’s flood by 14 years. But the OTHER HALF of the truth is that there’s another copy of the Septuagint that has Methuselah dying 6 years BEFORE the flood.
Don’t let people trip you up and deceive you with their half-truths.
When you take the witness stand in court before a judge you raise your right hand and say:
“I swear to tell the truth, the WHOLE truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God.”
