I talk to Joe Parrish about whether religion has a place in contemporary life.
Specifically, we talk about single motherhood, and how religion mitigated this issue. Children in single parent households tend to have worse educational outcomes, and tend to be involved in criminal activity at a higher rate.
It's not clear how to tackle this issue- it seems unlikely (and perhaps unwise) to try to reclaim the idea that we must wait until marriage. Still, it would probably benefit our society to bring back a reverence for marriage that used to exist in the past.
