Under Fire in Mykolaiv
The Kherson counter offensive just reached its successful conclusion with the liberation of the provincial capital of Kherson. On Aug. 29th, the day the counter offensive was launched, I was in the city of Mykolaiv filming destruction and delivering aid to a local dog shelter with Filip and Pawel. Filip is a laid back Polish photographer and Pawel is a lovably crude Polish aid worker. Mykolaiv is very close to Kherson, and the Mykolaiv Oblast (Region) was actually the where the offensive was being launched from. from the direction This attack was mostly rumored up to that point, and we had no idea it was going to be launched that day. Nevertheless we got caught in the middle of it as we had multiple close calls due to persistent Russian shelling of the city center.
