Since its inception in 2008, Screen Australia has funded the development and production of Australian documentary content for the cinema, television and online (including virtual reality). The agency funds documentaries about Australia and its people, plus Australian creators telling world stories.
In 2018/19, AUD$16.26 million was invested across 173 funding allocations in Development (46), the Producer Program (34), the Commissioned Program (24), initiatives (7) and the Producer Equity Program (62). In total, that represents over 150 individual projects being funded in a single year with some titles receiving funding from multiple programs.
