Mark Stewart, owner of Gameday Men's Health's Chandler location, takes the GLP-1 tirzepatide and shares that users must actively force themselves to drink water and electrolytes because the drug suppresses thirst. Dr. Shawn Stevenson, chief of foregut and bariatric surgery with Dignity Health Medical Group, explains that GLP-1 medications slow down the intestinal tract. This process causes fluids and solids to remain in the stomach longer, contributing to a constant feeling of fullness.
Stevenson cautions that a full stomach can trigger nausea or vomiting, stripping essential fluids from the body.
